Winter is coming. For real this time. I don’t know about you guys, but this awful weather that we’re having in The Netherlands lately does not only affect my mood (just give me chocolate, The Walking Dead an thick blankets please), but also my skin and hair. I need to take good care of myself in the Winter to combat these effects – if I don’t, I immediately see the negative results. Yeah, this is why I haven’t missed the Winter weather at all… Every Winter, I like to go on a little product hunt to search for some new life savers for the upcoming season. This season I found a couple of new items that definitely upgraded my skin and hair game. Can’t wait to share my Winter Face, Body & Hair Essentials with you guys!
Face
Let’s start off with the face. If there’s one main thing that happens to me when the weather is getting colder, it’s getting dry patches. Super annoying, because it’s almost impossible to hide. Almost every foundation that I’ve tried so far accentuates it, so the best thing is to treat it right away.
Marie-Stella-Maris Comme Lavande Facial Oil
This guy is one of the best facial oils I’ve tried so far. First of all, I love using this at night, because of its smell. It smells like a field of lavender, which is just exactly the smell you need before going to bed. The texture of the Marie-Stella-Maris Comme Lavande Facial Oil is also very nice. It’s kind of a dry oil, which means your skin will absorb it super quick. Definitely an essential for combating my dry patches!
Dr. Hauschka Night Serum
Although some people like to use an oil or a serum, my secret to having a hydrated skin in the Winter is definitely combining those two. My favourite serum has been the Dr. Hauschka Night Serum for a while now. The texture of this serum is very different to an oil. It feels kind of like a gel and it ‘disappears’ almost instantly after applying it. It instantly tightens your skin (bye lil’ wrinkles), but it also clears up my acne and acne scars. Can’t live without this thing!
Body
Next up is body care. For me, the most important thing in the Winter is smelling nice. I’m obsessed with cinnamon, vanilla and bakery scents, especially during these colder months. I just want to smell like a cookie, is that weird?
Philosophy christmas cookie Shampoo, Shower gel & Bubble bath
I’ve tried literally every cookie/chocolate/vanilla/bakery/cinnamon smelling product out there, you name it. So as an expert, I’m telling you guys: this is the best cookie smelling shower gel ever. Like I literally had this thing on my make-up vanity instead of my shower so I could grab it easily and take a sniff, ’cause damn this thing smells G-O-O-D. The best part about this shower gel, is that it doesn’t dry my skin out + the christmas cookie scent keeps lingering on my skin too. Oh and it’s actually a shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath as well! Just imagine bathing in a christmas cookie bath…
Hair
My hair is my bae. My dry is very coarse and dry naturally, but after colouring and bleaching it so much, it’s even more dry. And if you add the Winter season too, you can imagine that my hair needs a little help staying hydrated and healthy.
Moroccan Oil Smooth Smoothing Mask & Smoothing Lotion
Moroccan Oil has always been one of my favourite haircare brands. Recently I got the chance to try out two products of their new line called ‘Smooth’. The Moroccan Oil Smoothing Mask is one of the best masks I’ve ever tried for my hair. The consistency of this mask is what makes it so amazing. It’s whipped and feels super thick, which I totally adore. I slatter this on and my hair instantly feels so much softer, healthier and smoother. Same for the Moroccan Oil Smoothing Lotion: I love using creams/leave-ins after I washed my hair. I use 3-6 pumps all over my hair and this stuff makes my hair way more managable styling wise. My hair can get pretty frizzy, but this stuff slows down the process. And the smell of these products is divine. Definitely recommend both the products!
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap
Last, but so not least is the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap. Honestly, I feel like this is the only product that truly repaired my hair. Yes, you read that right. This stuff really makes your dead hair healthier. After I’ve bleached my hair for the 3rd time, I felt pretty terrible: my hair was so damaged, that I couldn’t wear it natural anymore – I had to heat style it everyday, which made it even more damaged. This stuff is the only thing that really saved my hair. Everytime I used it, my hair got a bit healthier and healthier until it was almost back to it’s normal self. I promise you guys, if you want to invest in one product to restore your processed hair, this is it. You won’t regret it. I got this product at hair salon The Proof by the way.
Hope you enjoyed this pretty detailed blogpost about my new Winter essentials. Just wanted to make clear, these items are all of my NEW Winter essentials that I discovered recently. Of course I have a lot of other Winter holy grails (lip balms, body butter etc.), but I haven’t discovered a ‘better’ alternative this year. If I will, I will definitely share it with you guys again!
