La Mer Blue Heart

La Mer Blue Heart

This was an unforgettable day. Imagine having lunch on a little island somewhere in the river delta, surrounded by beautiful nature and cute sheep. Yes, pretty special. A little while ago, I had the amazing opportunity to experience a delicious lunch on the smallest nature reserve in the Netherlands together with La Mer to celebrate World Ocean Day and the launch of their Crème de La Mer Blue Heart 2017 edition. Our journey started at a dock in Amsterdam, where a boat was waiting to transport us to Vuurtoreneiland.

OUR TRIP TO VUURTORENEILAND

After an one hour boat ride we arrived at Vuurtoreneiland. Imagine a little island with wild nature, sheep and a cute little greenery house that's actually a restaurant. The restaurant is typically only open at night, but this time they made an exception for us and opened during lunch time in celebration of World Ocean Day.

The lunch consisted of 4 different courses that I all really enjoyed. All courses had something to do with the ocean, for example by using seaweed. You could really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the craftmanship of the chefs. Vuurtoreneiland started as a 'pop-up store', but after a huge success it's here to stay.

WORLD OCEAN DAY

The reason why I was invited to this very special event, was because of World Ocean Day. World Oceans Day, celebrated every year on June 8, turns the focus to the sea to recognize its importance as a vital ecosystem and the necessity of taking action to preserve its delicate habitats and wildlife.

La Mer celebrates World Ocean Day by releasing a new Blue Heart jar design every year. This year’s limited edition La Mer Blue Heart jar design captures a delicate new world of beauty. The watercolor waves are splashed onto this exclusive Crème de la Mer jar, raising awareness through art in celebration of their muse - the ocean.

I have a soft spot for any brand that is trying to spread a positive message in this world, and that's one of the reasons why I love using La Mer so much. Not only does the Crème de La Mer contain amazing properties harvested from the sea, the brand itself wants to give back to the sea as well.

La Mer created the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund that focuses its efforts on ocean protection. To celebrate World Ocean Day, La Mer is partnering up with two leading global organizations, National Geographic and Oceana, to support their habitat protection initiatives and efforts to preserve these resources for future generations.

To me, a brand with great products, a great message, and a great (blue) heart is a brand I truly believe in.

CRÈME DE LA MER BLUE HEART

Now it's time to talk about the real deal: the actual Crème de La Mer Blue Heart product. It's no secret that La Mer is a very expensive brand. However, I truly believe that if there's one thing we should be investing in, it should be our skin. Not only is our skin the biggest organ of our body, I also feel like skin problems are often neglected. I've struggled with acne and dermatillomania for half of my life, so I know how awful it can be to struggle with bad skin.

Born from the sea, the cult Crème de La Mer product claims to have the power to transform the skin. Crème de La Mer was created by Dr. Max Huber, who was inspired by the healing power and the natural regenerating properties of plants in the sea to transform the look of his skin. He actually created the product to heal skin burns!

La Mer claims that in a short time, firmness improves, lines, wrinkles and the look of pores becomes less visible, and the skin would look virtually ageless. With the nutrient-rich Miracle Broth, the skin should be immersed in moisture, sensitivities should be soothed, and radiance should be restored.

When it comes to using this cream, Crème de la Mer must be warmed for a few seconds between the fingers until it becomes translucent, and after that it should be pressed gently into the skin.

MY EXPERIENCE & OPINION

So what do I think? First of all, yes this cream is expensive, especially this limited edition size (the jar is way bigger than the regular size jar though). Fortunately, the Crème de La Mer is so concentrated that you only need a tiny bit every time you apply it. After using the Crème de La Mer Blue Heart for a month now, I did notice a difference in my skin. I have combination skin, meaning that I suffer with dehydration and oily skin at the same time. Now, I would definitely not recommend this to any of my oily skin girls out there, because this cream is thick af. However, if you do struggle with dry skin or dry patches, this cream is a life saver. I have a very dry forehead, and this is the first cream that actually helped reduce the visible dry lines I have there. I like to use a good amount of it at night, and stick to a lighter moisturizer during the day. So yeah, I definitely really enjoy using this product, but I know it is not for everyone. If you are able to save up for it and you struggle with dehydration as well, I would highly suggest you picking up this cream.

The La Mer Blue Heart retails for €425.00 for 3.4 oz.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED ANY LA MER PRODUCTS?

Wat een onwijs mooie plek! Ik zou deze crème ook niet kopen omdat het zo duur is, maar het klinkt natuurlijk wel geweldig, zeker in de winter wanneer mijn huid erg droog is. . Maybe one day 🙂 Liefs, Sija
