MONTHLY FAVES: APRIL 2014

Hey!

Today is the last day of April, which means that it’s monthly faves time! I think this is going to be the first time that I’m not going to say that this month flew by too fast. Although I still don’t feel like we almost lived through the half of 2014, I did do a lot this month. So I do have the feeling I have something to look back to. Anyways, some of my favourite things this month were my grades (only 9/10!), going to my favourite party called Encore in Amsterdam and moving to my new studio! So yeah, despite the fact this month was very stressful, I think it was a good one :).

Beauty

I’m going to start with my make-up favourites. I have two this month! The first one is this MAC lipstick, called All Fired Up. I think the colour is very unique: it’s a darker version of cherry red. That’s the best way I can describe it, haha. I also love the matte finish of the lipstick and the fact that it’s really longlasting! It can even last a meal if you eat a bit carefully.

My second favourite is a nailpolish from Anny. I’ve been on an all black errthang nailpolish kick and I was in the market for a new, longlasting, black nailpolish. And this one was perfect! The colour is 346 Deep Black Chief. It’s a true black colour and it’s opaque in one coat. Anny nailpolishes never let me down and this one isn’t an exception. So if you’re in the market for a really good black nailpolish, try this one.

I also have two skincare favourites. The first one is this scrub from Origins, called Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion (such a long name damn). I’ve been trying to improve my skin by scrubbing more often. My skin reacts very good to exfoliating, so I’m using this scrub 2/3 times a week. You can use it on both dry or wet skin. It’s kinda harsh, so if you have very sensitive skin I recommend using this scrub once a week (it’s not that harsh that sensitive skin people can’t use it though). If you’re interested in a full on review, let me know in the comments below :).

My second skincare favourite isn’t going to be a surprise, ’cause I already wrote a review about it. It’s this Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream, and it’s the bomb. I’m not gonna write a lot about it, ’cause I’ve already reviewed this product on this blog. Just know that I really love it and use it everyday, still. I think it’s even going to be one of my holy grail products!

Fashion

Now onto fashion faves! My first faves are these sunnies that I scored at the Primark. I think they look very unique. I don’t think anybody would guess they were from the Primark haha! I love the slight cateye and the matte finish of the sunglasses. I think they really suit my faceshape, better than all of the other glasses that I own. Yup, definitely a favourite this month!

Okay, you’re probably expected this favourite as well: baby blue sweaters. I wanna take this moment to tell you how beautiful this colour is. Like isn’t this one of the prettiest colours ever? I really like the way how this colour looks on blonde, light skinned people (me haha). The bottom sweater is from Primark, the top sweater with the oversized turtleneck is from Missguided.

Another favourite of mine this month have been turtleneck croptops. I just really like the way they look on me, very nineties swag haha! Wear them with a high skinny jeans and a chunky chain and you’re good to go! I think they’re the perfect top for going out. The white one is from Missguided and the black one is from River Island.

I guess you kinda guessed my last fashion fave as well… My monster sandals from Duffy! I just can’t get over them, they’re so fucking amazing haha. I know that they’re very in at the moment, but not everybody’s taste. But I love them so much! And they are so comfortable, I really don’t feel like I’m wearing heels if I’m wearing them. I also think it’s kinda different to wear white shoes, ’cause you don’t see people rock white shoes that often.

Favourite OOTD

I’ve realized that I haven’t posted a lot of ootd’s this month. I’ve actually realized that I haven’t posted a lot this month in general. I think it’s because of the stress at school (not only law, but also Honours College), a lot of other activities that I’ve been doing (sailing camp, going out, chilling with my bitches) and moving to a new place. So I’m not going to be sad because I haven’t blogged that much, I’m just going to make it up for ya in May! And I’m also gonna try to make more videos for you guys, just because I love doing them! Anyways, this has been my favourite ootd this month (aside from my Spring 2014 Lookbook video). I especially have been loving the sandals (duh!) and the shirt. Music

This month I was totally obsessed with this one song. I think this could be one of the best songs I’ve ever heard, not kidding you. I just randomly discovered this rapper and I’m so glad I did! The song is called Dance With The Devil and it’s from Immortal Techniques. I really like his style of rapping, his flow and the piano he uses in the beat. I’m a real sucker when it comes to story telling, oldskool beats and a piano. Those are the ingredients that make a perfect song for me! So yeah, he’s definitely not a mainstream rapper and I think his style is really one of a kind. The only rapgroup that is kinda similar to him (but still very different) is Atmosphere, another favourite of mine. So yeah, really recommend you to go check him out! I just downloaded an album and I’m digging it!

I hope you enjoyed my monthly faves of April! I don’t have any series, book or movie favourites for you this time. I was just way too busy to be doing that stuff. And I’m also still processing the fact that The Walking Dead is coming back in fucking October. Have a nice day guys!

xoxo Lilia

P.S. I need your help with something! Maybe you know, maybe you don’t, but in my old room I had a quote painted on my wall. It was:

“It is one of life’s bitterest truths that bedtime so often arrives just when things are really getting interesting.”
― Lemony Snicket

It is just a funny lil’ quote from my favourite childrenbooks author (Lemony Snicket is his pen name, his real name is Daniel Handler) that I’ve painted next to my bed. Now I wanna paint a new quote in my new studio, ’cause I don’t have room next to my bed to paint this one. And I don’t think it’s as good at a different spot. So now I’m debating which one to choose, ’cause I have 3:

“Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant filled with odd little waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don’t always like.”
― Lemony Snicket

I like this quote, because I have a really strong connection to fate. I’m a very fateful person, in the sense that I do believe some things aren’t just coincidences. I think this quote describes fate in a very unique, yet truthful way.

“And what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey.”
― Lemony Snicket

The books that Lemony Snicket wrote are called A Series of Unfortunate Events (they have 13 different parts). They’re my favourite books ever, so I really like the fact that this quote has the words unfortunate events in it. And I also just really like the meaning behind it, it’s very relatable for me.

“I will love you as misfortune loves orphans, as fire loves innocence, and as justice loves to sit and watch while everything goes wrong.”
― Lemony Snicket

And this is the last quote. I like it because it has a lot of references to the books. I also like the last example, because I think it’s kinda funny to have a quote like that on your wall if you’re studying law. I think it’s true though, haha. That’s why we need lawyers right?

So yeah, tell me in the comments below which one is your favourite, so I can paint it on my wall!
