PACKAGING
I always like to start off with the packaging. MAC Cosmetics iconic packaging is a black, minimal and bullet-like. I love how my MAC lipstick collection looks on my make-up vanity and I can’t wait to fill all the 24 spots in my lipstick holder! I also like the shape of MAC lipsticks. They’re not too round, making it easy to apply your lipstick very precisely without a lip brush.

SWATCHES
This time, I have two swatches to show you. MAC Cosmetics describes Taupe as an muted reddish-taupe brown. Wow, that’s some color description. I would never have called this lipstick ‘Taupe’, because this isn’t taupe at all. It’s a very orange-y, red-toned brown, which looks more like cinnamon or something. No cool-toned taupe at all. The lipstick is a matte, but is still pretty shiny for a real matte lipstick. The pigmentation is very nice, which is usually the case with MAC lipsticks. I also swatched MAC Lip Pencil in Spice, just because it’s the PERFECT match for MAC Taupe. You can find the review about MAC Spice here.

ON THE LIPS
This is how Taupe looks on my lips. I always add a photo of my bare lips, just for comparison. It doesn’t dry out my lips and is very comfortable to wear for a matte lipstick. It’s also completely opaque. Taupe looks like a more brown version of my natural lip color to be honest, and I really dig it. Definitely a great MAC lipstick shade!
FULL FACE
This is how the lipstick looks with my full face of make-up. I love it! I always like to wear orange and red tones on my eyes, especially in the Fall time. This lipstick is essential for me, because it has the perfect undertone for those kinds of looks. It’s also still fairly neutral, so you could wear it with a lot of different make-up looks. Also, this color would look great on darker skintones, so it’s definitely a color for everybody!
YAY OR NAY?
In my opinion, this lipstick is a yay. I know MAC Taupe is not everybody’s color, but I do think it’s a perfect brown for (early) Fall. Now that school is starting and shit, my mind immediately starts thinking in warm colors, such as burnt orange and cinnamon. This lipstick goes perfectly with that picture! I would definitely recommend this shade if you’re starting with Fall and Winter make-up shopping. Especially paired with MAC Spice Lip Pencil, this is a too die for combo!

Ziet er goed uit! Het lijkt inderdaad niet op een taupe kleur haha, ben benieuwd waarom MAC die naam heeft uigekozen. Maar het is zeker een YAY! 😀
