REVIEW | Real Techniques Bold Metals Miracle Diamond Sponge

Marble and rose gold are probably not the first two words you'd think of when talking about a make-up sponge (they'd probably be the first two words you'd think about when talking about me though, lol). Still, it's true: The sisters Sam & Nic (better known as PixiWoo) released the Real Techniques Bold Metals Miracle Diamond Sponge. It looks like a marble diamond and comes in rose gold packaging. No, I'm not kidding you and yes, that sounds like perfection, I know. Wanna know more about this beauty? Keep reading!

PACKAGING

Well, you can pretty much guess what I think of this packaging: it's a-ma-zing. I think Real Techniques really nailed it this time packaging wise. The marble diamond shaped sponge together with the rose gold packaging makes this sponge look very luxe and chic. Love it.

THE USAGE

You need to use the RT make-up sponge wet. This will make the sponge bigger, fluffier and softer. A little tip is to use warm water, because this way your foundation and concealer will melt into your skin a bit easier. You can also use this sponge to apply powder on your face for baking, but I haven't tried this particular sponge out for that yet.

THE EFFECT

I really like the effect applying your foundation and concealer with make-up sponges gives. My skin looks natural, glowy and there are no 'hard' lines visible on my face. If you haven't tried applying your base with a sponge, I'm telling you guys, you need to! I do have to say, due to the fact of the size of this sponge, I found it rather hard to apply my foundation and concealer sometimes. I have pretty small hands and this thing is bigger than your average make-up sponge. I prefer a smaller sponge for better and easier application, but maybe I just need to get used to it a bit more.

YAY OR NAY?

Although I love how this Real Techniques Bold Metals Miracle Diamond Sponge looks and I love Real Techniques make-up sponges in general, I'm not sure if this sponge is a complete yay. Maybe it's only me, but for me, this sponge is pretty big for my face. If you're a bit bigger/taller than me, this sponge would probably be a better fit for you. Don't take me wrong: I'm obsessed Real Techniques make-up sponges (they outweigh any other sponge brand, like for example Beauty Blender, or any make-up brush for me), but this one is just not the best of their assortment. The sponge looks stunning, texture of the sponge is nice and it's surprisingly easy to clean. I'm just not the biggest fan of the size and the shape. Maybe I need to get used to it, maybe not. But I would definitely recommend the original Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge over this one! You can find the Real Techniques Bold Metals Miracle Diamond Sponge for €11,95 in stores or online.

ARE YOU GOING TO TRY OUT THE NEW REAL TECHNIQUES MARBLE DIAMOND SPONGE?

Hmm ik zou deze spons zelf wel eens vast willen houden. Dan weet ik meteen of ik ’em te groot vind. Ik vind dat ding namelijk wel echt super mooi!
