TRAVEL DIARY | My Christmas in Russia + Hotspots

TRAVEL DIARY | My Christmas in RussiaThe last time I posted a Travel Diary is so freaking long ago, I don’t even wanna think about it, lol. My life at uni is fun and all, but if there’s one thing I can’t afford being a law student it’s travelling a lot. I hate missing lectures and of course it also costs quite some money. Although I’m not the biggest wanderluster out there (some people are just so obsessed with dropping their daily life and flee to some faraway country – not me, I’m actually pretty happy with my daily life if I’m honest), I do like travelling, especially when it comes to meeting new people from other cultures. I find that so interesting and rewarding! Anyways, I was really happy though that I could visit my fam in Russia this year again. So in this Travel Diary I’m going to show you My Christmas in Russia + Hotspots, hope you enjoy!

TRAVEL DIARY | My Christmas in Russia TRAVEL DIARY | My Christmas in RussiaAfter having a comfortable flight to Moscow, this is how my life looked most of the time. Food, food and even more food. I think most of the time of my trip to Russia I was eating and studying. Kind of the ‘good life’, haha. I just love Russian home cooked food!

HOTEL METROPOL, MOSCOW

Of course we also had to visit Moscow during my trip to Russia. The first stop we made was Hotel Metropol. This hotel was very different than the most hotels I’ve seen. Most hotels nowadays are very minimalistic and modern, but Hotel Metropol is completely different with its decadent renaissance inspired decor. I think it’s very beautiful and I couldn’t stop staring at the lovely interior when I was grabbing some lunch there. Definitely a must see if you’re ever in Moscow!

THE RED SQUARE, MOSCOW

Except for Hotel Metropol, another must see in Moscow is the Red Square. For me, if somebody talks about Moscow, I always think of this place. It’s a super pretty place to take a stroll, especially with all the lights everywhere. By the way, one of the biggest misconceptions is that the building that you see in the picture is called Kremlin. No no no girl, this ain’t the Kremlin, but the Saint Basil’s Cathedral (Собор Василия Блаженного). This is the Kremlin.

GOEM, MOSCOW

Last, but so not least place you have to visit is GOEM (ГУМ). This is one of the prettiest shopping malls I’ve ever seen. They have all the exclusive high end shops there, fashion and beauty wise. For beauty lovers, they have Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani and Make Up Forever and for fashionistas Miu Miu, Burberry and Moschino. Yup, I definitely was drooling over all the beautiful stuff I saw…

TRAVEL DIARY | My Christmas in RussiaI hope you liked my Russian Travel Diary. I’m going to confess guys, I actually really don’t like Moscow. Or at least, I used to. It was way too big and crowded for me. I hated the fact that it took me so long to travel from one point to the other. But I have to say, this time I really fell in love with Moscow for the first time. Everything was so beautifully illuminated that the endless walks turned into something magical instead of something annoying. Althought it is pretty cold, I do recommend visiting Moscow during the Christmas time. I’ve never seen it so beautiful as it was now!

Have you ever been to Russia?

This was an interesting post to read! I was myself born in Moscow, and would very much like to go back there again at some point (if I’m allowed by my father) 😛
