US Sephora Beauty Haul + First Impressions

US Sephora Beauty Haul + First Impressions

When you are in the US, it is an unwritten rule that you have to shop till you drop. I remember going mental the first time I visited NYC and DC previous year, because I was just too excited to see all the fashion and beauty brands sold in actual stores, instead of online.

Now that I'm living in the States, I have unlimited access to any of my favorite stores - and that is, mildly put, quite dangerous. There is just something about shopping in the US that just does not compare to any other place. One of my favorite places to empty my bank account at is the US Sephora. We do not have a Sephora in the Netherlands to begin with, but even the European Sephora does not have all the amazing brands that the US Sephora does have.

I went a little mad, I am not gonna lie. If you are interest in everything that I got during my shopping spree, swatches, and what I think of the products, definitely keep reading this US Sephora Beauty Haul!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Coconut Face Primer

"Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer brings the refreshing feel of coconut to your face while it perfects and extends makeup wear. With its hydrating, nutrient-rich formula, it is especially ideal for normal to dry skin types to create a smooth and improved skin surface before foundation application."

I had to purchase the Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Coconut Face Primer, because I heard so many amazing things about it on Instagram from my favorite beauty bloggers. Especially with Marc Jacobs Beauty's beautiful packaging, I could not resist. Now I have to be honest: I don't know if I have a particulary high standard when it comes to primers (I have 3 primers that I absolutely LOVE using), but this primer did not blow me away. Yes, it is a nice primer and it is definitely better than your average, silicone primer, but it does not leave my skin feeling particulary 'special'. I like primers that are a bit more tacky or oil controlling, and this primer is more of a hydrating primer. It is still nice and I will be using it, but I am not blown away.

This product retails for $44. You can shop the Marc Jacobs Beauty Under(cover) Coconut Face Primer here.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Natural Finish Travel Size

"Set your makeup on the go with this travel-size sheer, silky powder. Ideal for normal-to-oily skin of virtually every tone."

I'm a sucker for anything travel or mini sized. Everytime I find one of my favorite beauty products in a travel size, I have to get it. That's what happened to me with this Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Natural Finish. I have been using this powder for a couple of months now, and I really like using it to set my under eyes and t-zone. It has a very natural finish, like the name suggests, and it keeps my face from becoming too oily throughout the day. I am very happy that I have a little travel size one + mini powder puff to take with me!

This product retails for $23. You can shop the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Natural Finish here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light Mini Size

"A wardrobe of six universal finishing powders that recreate the most exquisitely flattering light—from ethereal moonlight to luminous candlelight. Each powder captures, diffuses and softens surrounding light with groundbreaking Photoluminescent Technology"

Speaking of mini products: I bought another mini powder to add to my make-up collection. I just can't help it, I love the travel size section at Sephora! I have never tried anything from Hourglass before, but I really wanted to try out their Ambient Lighting Powder.

This powder is called a Finishing Powder, and is a hybrid between a normal setting/foundation powder and a highlighter. It removes the oil from your face, without making you look matte. I like a more natural/dewy look to my skin, but I still want to powder my face so my oils don't come through. That's why I really wanted to get this powder.

I got this powder in the color Luminous Light, a champagne pearl powder. I haven't really tested it out that much yet, because my skin has been acting up like crazy. However, the swatches were very promising!

This product retails fro $22. You can purchase the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light Mini Size here.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone

"A best-selling creamy highlighter powder to light up the features you love with a high-shine finish."

After purchasing a luminizing powder, I also wanted to get a new 'real' highlighter. I am a sucker for highlighters, because I feel like they make me look very healthy - especially because I can look quite 'dead' due to my light skintone. Again, I went for a brand I've never tried out before: Becca. I purchased the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone, a pale gold color. I do have to say: this is a pretty highlighter, but it is not as intense as I would like it to be. It's perfect for days when I want my make-up to look a bit more natural, but for every day use I like something that is a little bit more popping. Still, it's a good product and I would like to try out the Champagne Pop shade as well.

This product retails for $38. You can shop the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone here.

NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna Mini Size

"Our most dynamic duo of signature cheek shades for achieving the ultimate in sun-kissed radiance. The Blush/Bronzer Duos deliver a healthy bronzed glow and a brilliant flush of blush."

NARS is definitely one of my favorite make-up brands. They have my favorite packaging ever (the rubberized, soft touch feel actually inspired my Supplied by Lily Stationery collection - all my items have the same feeling as NARS packaging, because I love it so much!), which makes me want to expand my collection everytime I their items in real life.

This time I went for another mini (yes, I know, minis are my thing!), the Nars Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna. I've tried both the blush and the bronzer and I have to say that I really LOVE them.

Nars blushes are by far my favorite blushes every (I love Oasis & Deep Throat), and these two classic shades don't disappoint. Would highly recommend to anybody that's looking for a peachy blush and a nice, natural bronzer.

This product retails for $24. You can shop the NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna Mini Size here.

Tarte Tarteist Pro To Go Amazonian Clay Palette

"Portable tarteist™ PRO palette with six exclusive shades powered by natural ingredients & none of the icky, bad stuff."

Tarte is also a brand I've never tried out before (yes, a lot of first time brand buys in this haul!). I have never really been that into Tarte, but when I saw this Tarte Tarteist Pro To Go Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette at the check out, I had to get it. The size of this palette is perfect for travelling, and I am obsessed with the beautiful gold and warm tones. The eyeshadow palette contains 6 shades in Drive (nude), Stylin (brown), Boss (bronze), Hype (gold), Crisp (chestnut) and Dominate (shimmering raspberry). They are all very pigmented and don't have a lot of fall out. The only thing that I miss in this palette is a soft highlighter shade. Other than that, this palette is perfect!

This product retails for $23. You can buy the Tarte Tarteist Pro To Go Amazonian Clay Palette here.

Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm

"A blend of fragrant botanicals and skin-softening emollients that delivers rich hydration to labour-wearied hands and cuticles."

Okay, I didn't get this at Sephora, but I still wanted to include this Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm to this haul, because it is SO good. I heard so many things about the brand Aesop, so when I walked passed their store in Georgetown, I had to take a peek. I ended up with a lot of skin care samples and this hand cream - it's honestly the nicest hand cream I have ever tried. It feels sticky and moisturizing when you just apply it, but after 30 seconds/1 minute this feeling goes away and you are left with really soft hands. A-ma-zing. It also smells very earthy and lavender-y, so it's great to apply when you need a moment to relax, especially on the go.

This product retails for $27. You can shop the Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm here and more find more info about it here.
