5 Tips for Finding Your Personal Style

5 Tips for Finding Your Personal Style

One of the questions I get asked a lot is how I found my personal style. My style is pretty unique I would say and reflects my personality perfectly. It did take me quite some time to really learn my personal do’s and dont’s when it came to my style. In this blogpost I’m going to share my 5 tips for finding your personal style. With these tips you’ll definitely will have your personal fashion style sorted out in no-time!

5 Tips for Finding Your Personal Style

1. EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR STYLE

Don’t be scared to experiment with your style. Experimenting with items you would usually never get is key to feeling inspired again. The best way to do this is to go shopping with somebody else, preferably your best friend. So often did I grab an item ‘just for fun’ and ended up completely loving it. So fuck that comfortzone and just have fun with experimenting with your personal style!

2. DON’T GO OVERBOARD WITH TRENDS

Trends are fun to experiment with, but don’t overdo it. You need to find out what works for you and what doesn’t. For example, I love the patches trend: it’s trendy, but whenever you place them on classic items such as a denim jacket, it really goes with my style. On the other hand, I would never be into wearing espadrilles. I just don’t like the look of them on my feet.

3. LOOK FOR YOUR STYLE ICONS

Finding your personal style doesn’t mean you can’t find some inspo from others. Knowing what your style icons are can actually really help you out with finding things you like on yourself. Your style icon be your fave celeb, Instagram account or maybe even one of your girls. Personally, I love the style of Kylie Jenner and Kenza Zouiten. I check their Instagram every day for a daily dose of inspiration!

4. FIND YOUR FAVORITE KEY PIECES

One of the best tips I can give you is finding your favorite key pieces. Key pieces are items that are really ‘you’ and can add that personal touch to every outfit. Just think of your favorite clothing items and try to incorporate them in your outfits as often as you can. For me personally, I love wearing small cross body bags, crop tops and rose gold jewellery. These items scream ‘Lily Like’ if you ask me!

5. STAY CLOSE TO YOURSELF

The most important thing: stay close to you. You have to feel good about yourself, so it doesn’t matter what others think. You don’t dress for others, so fuck their opinion (exuse my French haha)! You have to be confident in your outfits – that’s the key to a succesful personal style if you ask me!

Anyways, let me know what you thought of these tips and if you have a great tip to share with us as well! Let me know in the comments below 😉

Hey!!!! Lily!!! I really love this post! It is informative! btw I love your shoes! I totally believe that we should not go overboard with trends and we should be true to ourselves!
