I never believed in the law of attraction this generation holds so dearly. I grew up believing in a different concept. The concept that what comes up, must come down again. The idea of life being both good and bad; yin and yang.
You cannot receive something from life without it taking away something from you as well. If you try to win without losing, you are trying to cheat life. Even the best cheater can’t out-cheat life, or rather death, itself.
We often feel like we don’t have enough hours in our day to accomplish everything we want to do. But that is not necessarily true. As one of my favorite quotes says: “You have the same amount of hours in a day as Beyoncé.” And in this video, I am going to share habits to boost your productivity that you can incorporate into your daily routine for 2019.
In the days of social media, filled with images that create an unhealthy and unrealistic expectation of people’s bodies, abilities, and lives, focusing on your own self-worth can be quite challenging. As a law of philosophy graduate and philosophy student, I especially find it interesting to talk about this topic using philosophical theories. That is why in this third episode of Phililyphy (Philosophy with Lily), I am sharing what self-worth means to me, my process of learning and understanding what my self-worth is, and my tips and tricks to start living a life that values me as a person and how I stopped surrounding myself with toxic friends and relationships.
HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS. Everyone has a certain picture of how they want their life to look like. For example, you want to change the world, move to a different country or become the best in your profession. However, most people are scared to actually chase after their goals, because their dreams are too big, too scary or too hard. ‘I’m not good enough. My dreams are unrealistic. I’m never going to succeed.’ These are thoughts we all think from time to time, but they are not true. I firmly believe that you, yes, you reading this, are good enough to achieve anything you want. The only thing that you need to do is to discard your fear of failing. If you want to know how I do it, check out my newest video about 5 Tips For Achieving Your Goals down below.
It’s strange to realize how certain places can seem so ordinary to some, while be so extraordinary to others, all at once. For some people the ‘Pont des Arts’ can seem like a regular bridge in Paris, while to other people it can feel like they are being teleported back to other times. That’s how I felt when I was walking passed this bridge, and realizing that my favorite philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre must have done the same thing, yet centuries ago. The fact that I was standing at the same spot where he would’ve talked, walked and thought, while reading his Nausea, was mind-blowing to me. It made me reflect on the past years of my life too. A long time ago, I discovered his existentialistic philosophy, which made me change my life completely. And even now that I am way older, I still have some difficulties implementing his philosophy into my life. I know this may not seem a topic that’s for everybody, but trust me; you need to continue reading this, because I feel like it will help you with your life too.
