It’s been a while since I’ve done a Cooking Swag episode, so I thought it was very appropriate to do one now. Especially because I ordered some freaking cute drinking straws from Ebay and I finally got my hands on a real Ball Mason Jar, which makes every drink look 9824 times cuter. And because I’ve never shared this all time favourite recipe of mine. It’s a 100% healthy hazelnut and cinnamon (hot) chocolate drink that I like to make, well, always. My guilty pleasure has always been hot chocolate, so that’s why I’m so happy that I also have a healthy version instead of my favourite drink. So if you wanna know how you can make this very delicious beverage, keep reading!
So this is what you’re gonna need:
- Raw Cocoa Powder > I’m not talking about the cheap ass cocoa powder like Droste or Nesquick, no, I’m talking about raw cocoa powder that you can buy at a health food store. And trust me, there’s a big difference!
- Hazelnut milk > My favourite hazelnut milk is from Alpro, it has a very soft, sweet and milky taste and I like to drink this even without all of the chocolate!
- Cinnamon powder > Just regular cinnamon powder, nothing special. I use this one from Albert Heijn.
- Cinnamon sticks > They are not necessary, but they do add some extra cinnamon flavour + they look cute.
So let’s start. First of all, you need to decide if you want to make it a hot chocolate or a cold chocolate. I prefer it cold, so I’m using this blender to mix everything together (otherwise the hot water/hazelnut milk will do the trick). It also gives the chocolate drink a bit more of a whipped texture, which I love. I’m starting off with a big tablespoon of the raw cocoa powder.
Next up is the cinnamon powder. This totally depends on your taste. I like my drink to be pretty cinnamon-y, so that’s why I added quite some powder.
The next ingredient is the most important: the Alpro hazelnut milk. Damn, I love this stuff. I’m kinda lactose intolerant (my stomach starts hurting a bit whenever I’m having something that has lactose in it, but it’s not like I can’t drink/eat it at all), so being able to buy great alternatives to milk like this one is amazing for me. And it tastes even better than regular milk in my opinion. I used 400 ml of hazelnut milk.
Now it’s time to blend, blend, blend everything together!
The last step is adding a cinnamon stick in your drink (optional) and pouring it in a cute cup/mason jar + adding a straw. And then you have a pretty delicious drink to enjoy! Doesn’t it look lovely?
Finished result
This drink is great if you want to stay on your New Year’s resolution diet, but still get your daily chocolate intake. The combination of the cinnamon and the hazelnut milk makes it a bit more interesting than your regular hot chocolate. The hazelnut milk makes it also sweet enough without any added sugar, so no guilty eating over here!
Enjoy your guilt-free hot chocolatE!
I love to make this drink whenever I’m having a chill day at home. Just grab your favourite sweater and your cosy socks and enjoy your lazy day with a delicious, healthy drink. And yes, it’s also thé perfect drink whenever you need to study, haha.
So yeah, that’s it for today’s blogpost. I hope you enjoyed this recipe and I inspired you to start eating and drinking more healthily. Because of my new cute straws and mason jar I’m feeling inspired to make even more recipes for ya. I also have a delicious and healthy Spring smoothie recipe that I can share with you if you’d like. Anyways I hope you have a wonderful day and I talk to you later.

Klinkt echt suuuuuper lekker! Ik vind trouwens warme chocolademelk met een snufje zout ook erg lekker. Ik weet niet waarom maar het geeft de chocolade net wat meer powder. Oh en wauw, super mooie foto’s. <3
Liefs, xo
