For most of us, the most stressful time of the year (exam period...) is finally over. To me, this means one thing: time to relax! And what better way to pamper yourself than going on a retreat? I was kindly invited by L'Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care to go on a two day retreat with them in the Dutch nature reserve De Veluwe at the estate Het Roode Koper. I had an amazing time filled with good food, beautiful nature and beautiful hair! If you want to know more about my special trip and my opinion on the new L'Oréal Botanicals Fresh Careproducts, keep reading!

LANDGOED HET ROODE KOPER
Our retreat took place in the estate Het Roode Koper in the Dutch nature reserve the Veluwe in the town Leuvenum. I had no idea what to expect, so I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the estate. The interior looked extremely beautiful, the outside had a beautiful garden and heated (!) swimming pool and the food - made by a Michelin Star chef Dennis van den Beld - was to die for. The estate is surrounded by 3000 hectares of undulating countryside, which gave it a very peaceful atmosphere.
The hotel room I stayed at was also really nice. The bed was super fluffy and comfy - probably one of the fluffiest beds I've ever had the pleasure on sleeping on! I also loved the forest view out of my window. Although I live in a city, I have always been a nature kid. The forest just has a special place in my heart. 🙂

L'ORÉAL BOTANICALS FRESH CARE
The reason of this retreat was to get to know the new L'Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care range. Personally, I was not familiar with this new hair care line. Botanicals Fresh Care is L'Oréal's first line that is created as a more natural hair care line.
It is described as a luxurious hair care, infused with natural, botanical ingredients, while still being available at the drugstore. L'Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care is all about finding your hair's better nature, using natural ingredients. All packaging is made from 100% recycled material, which is great!
L'Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care contains 4 different lines using different ingredients:
- Radiance Remedy (Geranium) – For dull hair.
- Smooth Ritual (Camelina) – For unruly hair.
- Strength Source (Coriander) – For damaged hair.
- Rich Infusion (Safflower) – For dry hair.
For all my hair care chemics: These products are free of silicones, parabens and colorants, but the shampoos do have Sodium Laurenth Sulfate (SLES). SLES is a way to make shampoo foam, and is found in most shampoos. However, this is quite an agressive ingredient which can be irritating for your scalp.
Other than that, L'Oréal Botanicals Fresh Care does not contain any nasties! In this blogpost I'm going to share my opinion on the Radiance Remedy (Geranium) and Strength Source (Coriander) line.

THE RADIANCE REMEDY: GERANIUM LINE
The Radiance Remedy using Geranium is especially designed for dull hair. It contains a shampoo, conditioner, mask and shine vinegar. I was very curious to try out this line, because my hair has been color treated so many times and has definitely lost its shine. Now when it comes to the shampoo, I don't think it's anything special. I personally prefer to use shampoos without SLES, so that's why I would not recommend this one. However, if you don't mind using SLES or use a lot of hair products with silicones, this shampoo could be a good option for you. I has a lovely smell, lathers nicely and has super practical pump packaging.
However, the conditioner and the mask are products that I actually enjoyed using. They definitely added quite some moisture and shine to my very dry hair. I always want my conditioner or hair mask to give my hair a very sleek feeling after I come out of the shower, otherwise I feel like the products were not moisturizing enough for my hair. Fortunately, these products definitely did that to my hair, so they passed the test!
My personal favorite from this line is the shine vinegar though. I am a sucker for shine sprays or anything that makes my hair look shiny. I apply this shine spray on my damp hair before I blow dry it or on dry second day hair to freshen it up a bit. The only downside to this product is the spray: it is not a very fine mist. You definitely have to be careful to not apply to much in one area. Other than that, I really liked it!

THE STRENGTH SOURCE: CORIANDER LINE
The Strength Source using coriander is made for people with damaged hair. This line contains a shampoo, conditioner, hair mask and strength potion. Again, the fragrance of these products is very nice. I am so bad at describing scents, but they smell fresh and herbal. And don't worry: if you don't like coriander, you can still use these products, because you cannot really smell it, haha.
I have tried all the products from this line as well, and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. Again, I would personally not recommend the shampoo due to the fact it has SLES. However, I did like using the other products from this line. I feel like the consistency of the Strength Source conditioner and mask is a bit thicker, so I would definitely recommend it to my girls with dry hair over the Radiance Remedy conditioner and hair mask. Also, I love using the hair mask as my conditioner, because it adds more moisture back into my hair.
Lastly, the strength potion is probably my favorite from this line. I apply it to my damp hair after the shower and I honestly feel like it makes my hair feel softer and smoother. Definitely a fave!

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
I am very picky when it comes to my hair care products: I have very thick and coarse hair, so any drying ingredients are not welcome in my hair care routine (or at least, I try to avoid them as much as possible). My hair is my baby and I like to give it the best possible hair care love I am able to afford.
That is why I usually always stick to high end or hairdresser products. With that being said, I can honestly say that Botanicals Fresh Care pulled through when it comes to the quality of their products.
My personal favorite of the Radiance Remedy with geranium line is the definitely the shine vinegar. I love shine products, because my hair naturally has no shine at all. Every little boost that I can find is welcome!
When it comes to the Strength Source with coriander line, my personal favorites are the hair mask and strength potion. They are both very moisturizing for my hair, smell nice and look cute in my bathroom. This is definitely my favorite hair care line from the drugstore I've tried so far!
