Paris is always a good idea. That’s why I was over the moon when I got the opportunity to go to Paris with The Body Shop for their Cruelty Free event a while ago. After a couple of hours travelling by Thalys, I arrived in the sunny city of love. I only had 22 hours to spend in Paris, but I definitely used them to the fullest (imagine me running from shooting location to shooting location with my manager to get as many outfit pictures as we could – lol!). If you want to read more about what I’ve done + the new The Body Shop products and see all the pictures I made, keep reading.
HOTEL OFF SEINE
Although I only had 22 hours in Paris, I did had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel OFF Seine for one night. This hotel is located on the river Seine, which is definitely a very cool experience. It feels like you’re sleeping on the water! OFF Seine is located in the between gare d’Austerlitz and gare de Lyon. Keep in mind: this is a bit out of the city, so be prepared to travel for 20-30 minutes if you want to go to the city centre or the Eiffel Tower. The hotel also looks way bigger in pictures than in real life. Other than that, it was definitely a very cool experience.
THE BODY SHOP EVENT
The reason why I was in Paris was to attend The Body Shop Cruelty Free event. At this event The Body Shop talked about their stand against non-cruelty free make-up. They urged us to sign their Cruelty Free petition, so animal cruelty for make-up will be banned. They were the first global beauty brand that fought against animal testing. They work together with Cruelty Free International and their collective efforts helped lead to a European Union ban of non-cruelty free make-up in 2013. However, 80% of the countries in the world don’t have laws against animal testing, including the US. Animals continue to be used in testing, and The Body Shop wants to end this practice by creating a petition. You can sign the Cruelty Free petition here. I did it too!
When it comes to the products, The Body Shop definitely came out with some great releases. From lipsticks to colored mascara, The Body Shop has it all! My personal favorite was their new face mask. The Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask is a 100% vegan face mask and helps remove pollutants and impurities. It’s formulated without silicones, mineral oil or paraffins. I always look for skin care that does not contain any of these ‘fillers’, because they don’t do any good for your skin at all. It leaves a tingly sensation on the skin, so it really feels like it’s working. I definitely enjoyed using it and I will add it to my normal skin care regimen.
Another favorite of mine is the Special Edition Piñita Colada Body Butter. Like the name suggests, this body butter smells very Summer-y and sweet: perfect to take with you on holiday. This body butter is made for people with normal to dry skin. My legs tend to get quite dry in the Summer, so this body butter is perfect!
Last, but not least, I had the opportunity to create the perfect eyeshadow palette for me. The new Down To Earth 8-Shade Case gives you the opportunity to make a custom eyeshadow palette filled with your favorite eyeshadow refills. I created a palette with neutral warm and cool shades – perfect for everyday!
When it comes to food, The Body Shop took this to a really cute vegan hotspot. Gentle Gourmet is a vegan restaurant, established in Paris in 2009. Their mission is to combine the finesse of French gastronomy with an ethical and ecological dimension. If you’re vegan and into haute cuisine, you have to try out this place! We had the pleasure to try out 3 different courses and they were all delicious.
Address: 24 Boulevard de la Bastille, 75012 Paris.
The food at Gentle Gourmet was so good! The first course was this gazpacho soup made of strawberries – quite the interesting combination. The second course was probably my favorite – the food honstely looks like art. The third course was not really my thing (not the biggest fan of coconut), but it looked stunning!
