Hey guys!
How are you doing? I’ve been on a blogging kick these last couple of days, I’ve been almost blogging non stop (only breaks for dance class haha). I have a lot of faves for you this month. A lot of them are summer related, so you could also say that these products are kinda my summer essentials (not all of them though). This month has been a pretty quiet month for me I guess, although I don’t feel like it actually was. I didn’t have any school this month, but I still feel like I was busy as fuck all of the time. I think my favourite things this month were, of course, Barcalona and damn, Amsterdam fucking Fashionweek, but I also loved going to the hiphop festival Woo Hah and just chilling with my friends. It was a good month and like all good months, it ended way to quickly.
I’m first going to start of with hairproducts. I’ve been totally in love with these two. My love for Dove (hair)products is big in general, but these two are just too good. They are the Dove Advanced Hair Series Pure Care Sublime Oil Conditioner and the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil. They make my hair so much softer than all the products that I’ve ever tried before. But they especially work amazing with all of my other hairproducts that I use in my hair routine. I will not go in depth here, because I’m planning to do a review on these two. But you should know that I love them!
Next up are my favourite make up products. My favourite lipcombo this month has been MAC Naked lipliner and MAC Pure Zen lipstick. They’re just so fucking pretty, I can’t even. If you want to read about them a bit more, I did a whole review on them a while back (click here!). I really recommend both of them and I know I’ll be rocking this lippy a lot in August as well.
I’ve already talked about the lipproducts, but I haven’t mention the Benefit CORALista blush a lot. I’ve owned this product for a long time and I used it on and off. What I like about this blush is that it’s so sheeny and shimmery, you don’t have to use a highlighter with it. The best thing is that this blush goes perfectly with my lipcombo. So yeah, everytime I wore this lippy, I paired it with the CORALista blush. Ooh and by the way, the brush that it comes with is actually really nice!
The last make up item I’m going to talk about is a product that I haven’t been using for a long time. I actually just started using it a week ago, because I finally got a bit more tanned and before it was always too dark for me. It’s this Maybelline SuperStay 24H concealer in the colour 2 Light. I definitely wouldn’t say that this is a light colour or something, so I don’t think they chose a good name. Aside from that, it’s a great concealer! It’s really opaque, but still pretty liquidy and it lasts on your face as well. If you’re interested I can do a proper review about it as well.
Okay, now onto skincare. Because it’s summer, the sun is shining, I have to use sunscreen (white trash errthang). The sun always makes my skin look way better (tanned + freckles + less spots = happy Lilia), but sometimes I can also get breakouts. And usually that’s because of sunscreen. So I was on the lookout for a sunscreen that wouldn’t break me out. Well, I found the perfect one! It’s from Nivea and it’s called Nivea Sun Light Feeling (then some German stuff) in SPF20. I bought it at the Action, so it was really cheap. It has a liquidy consistency (it almost sounds like water when you shake it) and it doesn’t make your face greasy. Definitely the best face sunscreen I’ve tried!
My last beauty/skincare favourite is the Sothys Desquacrem. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but this stuff amazed me. It’s so freaking good! It’s a facial cleanser and I use it as an extra step in the morning after I washed my face with Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser to give my skin a smooth finish. ‘Cause damn, this shit really leaves your skin smooth. It almost has a silicony feeling or something. I’m definitely going to review this, because I’ve never tried something that left my skin so soft instantly.
Fashion
Now onto my fashion favourites. Of course, my most favourite piece this month was my Alexander Wang top. I feel so blessed for having the opportunity to get a top like that. For me, it’s total perfection, I just love everything about it. The combination of black fabric lined with white fabric, the material, the fit, the cutouts… I can go on forever. I just feel like this is such an unique piece, definitely worth the price.
This month I’ve been on a matching two piece kick. I have 3 to show you: my matching Adidas two piece with super cute pineapple print, my matching black mesh two piece and my floral two piece from H&M. Kinda funny fact, the black two piece was actually not a two piece. The midiskirt was from Zara and I already had it for a while, when I saw the top at H&M. I immediately thought that they would look great together, but I didn’t think that they would look so matchy matchy as they did. I don’t mind, I think it’s cool! The Adidas & the H&M two piece have shorts, while the black one has a midiskirt. I love all of them, I think matching two pieces look awesome and I love this trend!
Last fashion favourite are these earrings. I actually almost never talk about the earrings I’m wearing. Pretty strange, ’cause I usually wear earrings everyday. And lately I’ve been wearing these ones all the time. The crosses are from River Island, the triangles and the earcuff is from Forever 21 and the gold balls are from H&M. I think they look really cool together. It’s subtle, but they still add a lil’ something to an outfit I feel.
Favourite OOTD
Of course, my favourite outfit this month has to be my Amsterdam Fashionweek outfit. I was wearing my amazing Alexander wang top. I just love typing that. My Alexander Wang top. Like whaaaat. Anyways, if you want to see all the details of this ootd, click here.
Series
This month, I’ve been watching two series in particular. The first one is Suits. For the longest amount of time, I couldn’t watch this show, because it made me feel like a failed law student (cum laude in stead of summa cum laude). After a while I accept this fact, so I was able to watch this series again. And damn, it’s so good! SPOILER. I love the fact that Mike doesn’t work at Pearson Specter anymore, I think that’s an interesting twist in the storyline. I feel like he will come back though.
My other favourite show this month was True Blood. I’m so happy that they started again with the new season, but I’m so sad that this is going to be the final one :(. Anyways, if you feel like vampires in today’s series/film society suck (ha-ha), watch this show. ‘Cause god, here they’re just all bloodsucking badasses. You definitely need to watch through the first few episodes, ’cause then it’s only about bloodsucking, sex and killing. After a few episodes the real story shines through and then it’s fucking awesome. Yup, definitely recommending this if you’re not afraid of dirty series.
Movies
One of my favourite movies is A Lot Like Love. I’m totally not into romcoms or something, but for this movie I always make an exception. One of my favourite actors, Ashton Kutcher, plays in it, which makes the movie 9393948 times better. He’s just such a good actor and he’s so fucking funny and sexy. This movie is like the perfect example of how I want my love story to be. It’s definitely not perfect, but it’s unique and true. It’s perfectly imperfect.
The other movie that I loved this month is Enemy. Jake Gyllenhaal has a role in it, so of course I had to like it. This is probably the most mindfuck movie I’ve ever seen. Shutter Island and Inception don’t come even close to how mindfucky this movie is. At the end, I literally didn’t understand a thing. I was like ‘wtf did I just watch?!’ Not in a bad way, but in a way ‘I want to watch explanations to understand what I just saw’. I watched one that was 20 minutes long on Youtube and after that I understood everything and I loved the movie even more. If you like sexy Jaky Gyllenhaal and wtf movies, you NEED to watch this. Such a good movie.
Music
The last thing I’m going to talk about is music. This month I’ve been listening to two artists in particular. The first one is an oldie (well not that old) but a goodie: Ne-Yo. I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden I downloaded all of his old stuff to my iTunes and I fell in love with it. So many good songs that I’ve never heard before! My favourite new discovery has been Get Down Like That. I just love the typical R&B sounds of this song (and Ne-Yo in general). It’s maybe that original or something, but I don’t care about that. It’s good and I wish people made more R&B like that and not try desperately to be hipster and unique.
The other arist I’ve been loving is Isaiah Rashad aka Kendrick’s baby or protégé haha! But really, sometimes he sounds like Kendrick so much. I feel like he does have a really unique sound (that doesn’t sound desperate). I think he’s sexy too and yeah my love for him grew even bigger when he liked an Instagram selfie of me (yes that really happened). My favourite song of him is Menthol featuring Jean Deaux. I just really love the chorus and the beat of this song.
Well that’s it for this month! I know, I had a lot of favourites this month, dayum. I’m really excited for August, because I’ll be going to Greece (<3), Turkey and Italy! I’m also going to work as a volunteer at Aeolus for the first time, exciting stuff! So yeah, are you going to do some exciting stuff in August? And how was your July? Tell me in the comments below!
xo Lilia
P.S. I’m so impressed with your answers on my ‘Freckled & Tanned‘ post. Thanks guys, I love it when I can interact with you on more heavy ass topics, haha.
Mooie favorieten! I love Suits!
aww dankjewel! xo
You have a busy August planned! The Alexander Wang is awesome, just the right amount of cutholes to be fashionable on a carpet. Just watched an epsido of TB the other night, did not understand it one bit (think you really have to follow it for that) but the editing was really well done. Last movie I watched with JG was prisoners, als a thriller- really dark and creepish.
yeah you could say that! and thank you! yeah TB is a hard show to understand without seeing all the episodes. Oeh I know that movie, I loved it! xo
