Hey!
I just came back from my trip to Russia. It was so nice to be back in my hometown after 3,5 years not being in Russia! I’ve missed that place like cray cray. I was so happy to see my grandmother and uncle, because I haven’t seen them in such a long time. I didn’t do that much, I only hang out with them and got 933942 kilo fatter. ‘Cause damn, my grandmother’s food is just way too good. So now I definitely need to start eating healthy after New Year’s, haha. I also vlogged the whole trip, but I have to be honest with ya: it’s not the most exciting vlog ever, because it mostly contains really beautiful views and good food. Which is kinda exciting so I guess I’m kinda contradicting myself, haha. Anyways, I already showed you my fashion recap of the year 2014 (click!) and today I’m going to show you part 2 of my recap: beauty. So keep reading if you wanna know all the products I loved in 2014!
This year has definitely been the year of the lipproducts for me. I used to never wear lipproducts ever. I always thought that it was such a hassle and a time consuming thing to do every morning. Well, that totally changed this year, ’cause if there’s one main obsession this year than it has to be lipproducts and especially MAC lipsticks. They never disappoint me. The colour selection is amazing, the quality is amazing and the smell is amazing as well. And I also looove the packaging, so simple yet stylish! I keep all my MAC lipsticks in this plastic container from Ebay and I think it looks very beautiful. Previous year I only owned 3 MAC lipsticks and this year it’s already 8… I know, it’s an obsession, haha! If you want to read some of my MAC lipstick reviews, I have a selection for ya here:
- MAC Diva Lipstick
- MAC Brave Lipstick
- MAC Faux Lipstick
- MAC Relentlessly Red Lipstick
- MAC Pure Zen Lipstick
Stil keeping in the lipproducts theme: another lippy that I’ve been loving this year are lipliners. I used to dislike lipliners, because I never understand why they were functional: they usually dried my lips out and I thought it was such a hassle to ‘layer’ lipproducts. But now, damn, lipliners are fucking awesome! I’ve been really into the overlining lip trend and lipliner is definitely the only product that does the trick. My favourite liners are the Catrice Nude Religion and the lipliners from MAC. The Catrice liner is a very pretty more peachy brown ‘your lips but better’ colour. It’s pigmented and it doesn’t dry my lips out. Same counts for the MAC lipliners. They’re even more pigmented and feel still pretty smooth (without being to slippery) on my lips. I reviewed all the lipliners from MAC that I own, that you can check out here:
My favourite skin care in 2014 has to be Philosophy. I don’t talk that often about skincare on my blog (which is totally going to change next year!), but trust me: I’ve been using my Philosophy products religiously and I freaking love them. I will be reviewing all of them next year (damn, that sounds way too long). My favourite products from Philosophy are the Purity Made Simple, the Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash, the Microdelivery Peel and Hope In A Jar.
Okay, I think you can guess this, but my favourite hair care brand this year is… Moroccanoil, duh! Moroccanoil definitely saved my hair after bleaching it when I did a ombre/balayage this year. They also are the best smelling products ever (I wish they had a perfume!). If you want to read a reaaaaally detailed review about all of my Moroccanoil products, you can check it out here.
Another beauty item that I have been loving this year and definitely became a holy grail for me is the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. I always use a sponge whenever I apply my foundation and concealer. I always used a sponge from Sephora, but this sponge blew that one away, fo sure. Since I used this sponge, I’ve never had a bad foundation kind of day (and trust me, that’s really a thing for me). If you want to read a review (actually a make-up sponge bottle between 3 different make-up sponges!) about the Real Techniques sponge, click here.
Another thing that I really got into this year is contouring. I always thought that it was impossible to contour with my face shape. Until I discovered the & Other Stories Face Contour Cream. This stuff is the best if you want to contour, but you ain’t got any cheekbones. I’m literally talking about no visible cheekbones. My face is really flat, so I never have any natural shadows on my face (which can be a good thing, ’cause I literally don’t have any dark circles, ever), which makes contouring really hard. This contour cream definitely saved the day, because it’s not only really pigmented and creamy, it’s also the perfect colour for me (it doesn’t have a warm tone to it, so it doesn’t look orange-y on my pale skin). Love this stuff. You can find my review here by the way.
Last but not least: my Urban Decay Naked palettes. I usually wear eyeshadow everyday and it’s usually my Naked palettes. They’re just so handy, the colours are very wearable and pigmented and the shade selection makes making an eye look so easy every single day. Urban Decay just never disappoints. I have the Naked 1, Naked 3 and the Naked Basics palette and the Basics palette is definitely my favourite. It’s really small so it’s easy to take it with you and do your make-up on the go (and I usually do it on the go). I also really love every single colour in this palette. If you want to read a review about these palettes, click here. By the way, I got the Naked Basics 2 palette a while back, but my mom also gave me the Naked 2 palette for Christmas, so now my stash is complete! I feel so blessed, thanks mom <3.
So yeah, that’s it for all my beauty favourites for the year 2014. It feels crazy that tomorrow is NYE. I’m going to make dinner and party hard with one of my girlfriends Emma in Groningen, so I’m really excited for that! Now I’m going to make some food (I’m hungry as hell after traveling back home) and sleep early. I need to start sleeping way more, so even though I still have some Roman Law to, I’m gonna skip it today, ’cause tomorrow is going to be die hard, haha. Talk to you later!
