Relentlessly Red. Doesn’t that name sound like heaven to you? Well, good news: this lipstick name doesn’t only sound like heaven, it also looks like heaven on your lips. I have this huge obsession with MAC lipsticks that started a couple months ago. I even bought a seperate lipstick container for all of my MAC lipsticks. I know, when things like that happen, you know the obsession is real haha. Anyways, Relentlessly Red was actually given to me by Nathalie
. I won her giveaway a while back and I’m still thankful for that (thank you!). I kept forgetting to write a review about this lipstick though, so that’s why I’m only reviewing this beautiful baby today. But damn, this lipstick is goooorgeous
. Did I make you curious? Yes? Well, keep reading then! 🙂
Well, let me first say something about this packaging, ’cause I’m a total sucker for it. I think MAC lipsticks always look chic and timeless. One of my friends even said they looked like bullets, haha (and yes, of course it was a guy). Another thing I love about MAC lipsticks is that they smell like vanilla. Vanilla is one of my favourite scents, so MAC definitely pleased me with that. Relentlessly Red has a matte finish. It’s very hard colour to describe, but I would say it’s a neon pinkish red, but with a slight coralness to it. I know, that sounded very cryptic. So instead of trying to describe this colour with words, let’s see some swatches, shall we?
This is how the swatch looks on my hand. As you can see it’s totally matte and it’s very opaque. You did a good job on the pigmentation here MAC!
Putting on that lipstick…
And this is the finished result! As you can see it’s a really bright colour, it definitely makes your lips pop. But what colour it is exactly, I don’t know. It’s not a red, it’s not a magenta and I definitely see some orangeness to it as well. It’s a fucking walking paradox, that’s what it is!
This is how the lipstick looks on ma face. I think it does suit me, right? It is a really bright colours, so be ready to get a lot of ‘damn here lips are bright’ kind of looks. I think this lipstick looks especially good if I pair it with a winged liner + some highlighter.
The texture of the lipstick is, as I said before, matte. This means that it’s not that moisturizing for your lips (it doesn’t have any oils in it, otherwise the lipstick would look shiny). I do notice some interesting things with this lipstick. If I wear it on a day when my lips are dry, this lipstick will accentuate the dry patches and make them even worse. Okay, that sounded really terrible, but this lipstick is still wearable when you don’t have the softest lips ever. Some matte lipsticks make that impossible, but this one is still okay to wear when you have chapped lips. But, if I do have smooth, sexy lips (lol) it doesn’t dry my lips out at all (which some lipproducts do, I guess I just have sensitive lips or something). I notice this with all MAC matte lipsticks and that’s one of the biggest reasons why I love them (+ scent + packaging + pigmentation + colour range). Also, despite the fact that the lipstick is matte, it still applies on your lips pretty nicely.
Well, as you noticed, I’m really excited about this lipstick as well. I think this lipstick would suit a lot of skincolours, because of it’s amazing pigmentation and the fact that it doesn’t have a particular undertone (it’s a bit pinkish, a bit coralish, a bit redish, it has a bit of everything). The lipstick is kinda similiar to MAC All Fired Up (click here for a swatch
) that I also own, only Relentlessly Red is a bit more orange-y and brighter. So yeah, I definitely recommend this lipstick (all matte lipsticks from MAC in general) if you’re searching for an unique, bright lip colour. I still have 6 slots to fill up in my lipstick holder, so if you have any MAC lipstick recommendations for me, please leave them down below in te comments. Have a good day guys!
