Today I’m going to review a product that I’ve been using for a very long time. Strangely enough I’ve almost never mentioned it on my blog. And to be honest, I have no idea why. Probably because it has become such a staple piece in my skincare, that I forgot I even had it, if you know what I mean. So today I’m going to let the Philosophy Hope In A Jar moisturizer shine on NAPPY HAIRZ. I’m not gonna lie: this is already my second jar and I’m already 3/4 through. So you can probably guess it already, I love this cream. If you wanna know why, keep reading! ;)
What a beauty, isn’t it? I think this photo turned out gorgeous, pretty proud of my photography work here, haha. Philosophy Hope In A Jar is a high-performance moisturizer for all skin types. I have a very combination skin (I have dry patches and acne almost on the same spot on my skin), so using products that are suitable for multiple skin types is always a plus for me.
The cream has very minimalistic packaging, which I love. I like the whole philosophy of Philosophy, especially because I love philosophy (how often can I say philosophy in one sentence, wow). The jar of the cream is pretty crappy though: because the cream is liquidy, it gets everywhere in the ridges of the cap, which is not very hygienic + causes a lot of product to be wasted. I also managed to make two cracks in the packaging as well. So yeah, the packaging looks pretty, but it is actually not that great. Step your packaging game up Philosophy!
Let’s look at the ingredients. Glycerin, lots of acids and lavender oil are great for your skin. Don’t be scared by the alcohol that it contains, ’cause this type of alcohol is a ‘fattier’ type that doesn’t dry your skin out. The only bad thing I can see are parabens. They can irritate your skin, but luckily it’s only a small amount and I haven’t noticed any irritation myself.
Lol, before and after pics… You can definitely see I’ve loved this cream! The consistency of this cream is the thing that sold me. It looks like any other regular gel cream, but trust me, it’s sooo different. I’ve never really liked gel creams, because most of them left a ‘film’ on my face, which was very hard to remove from my face and causes my foundation to go on very patchy. This cream doesn’t do that at all. It’s lightweight, but it disappears instantly, yet leaves a slight residu on your skin, which is perfect for day and night.
Here you can see the cream in action. As you can see, it’s very liquidy once rubbed in. The best way I can describe it is that it kinda feels like water. It just literally disappears after you’ve put it on. Such a weird way to explain it, but I really think it’s like water for your skin!
YAY OR NAY?
I’ve used this cream for a year now. I used to use it as my day and night cream, but now I only use it as my night cream. Because I’ve used it for so long (and I still struggle with acne), it’s hard for me to really say what it has done for my skin. But, if I compare my skin to the previous years, it has definitely improved. Previous winter (and also the winters before that) my skin was a mess. It was so dry and patchy that I literally couldn’t wear any foundation or bb cream without looking like a flaky mess. This year, I literally had no issues at all when it comes to this severe flakyness. Of course, I still have my dry, flaky patches, but they are way smaller, disappear quickly and aren’t noticable when I’m wearing foundation. So I guess it’s due to this guy! I would definitely recommend to anybody. It has good, mostly natural ingredients and doesn’t irritate my skin at all. Because I struggle with a lot of imperfections it’s hard for me to say something good about skincare (I want a product to do this this this ánd that), but I think I can truly recommend this cream to you. I would describe this cream as a good cream. Not a basic bitch, but definitely a good one, haha! Did you know it’s also Oprah’s favourite moisturizer? Has to be a good one then!
That’s it for today’s post. Since a couple of weeks I’m always writing my blogposts the night before I publish them (instead of on the same day as I always used to do) and it’s going great. Except when you have a fever, your nose is runny and you just feel like crap. You just wanna go to bed, but hell no, you still need to write a whole blogpost after you’ve (kinda) finished your homework. The struggle is very real, I know. So that’s why I’m going to say goodbye, ’cause I do want to get a lil’ bit more rest! Hope you understand (you probably will ’cause 99% of the peeps is sick at the moment).
