REVIEW: THE BODY SHOP WILD ARGAN OIL

Hello there!
I’m totally not a morning person, but damn, I wish I was, ’cause it freaking awesome. I always get the feeling that days are just way too short and that I need 48 hours in one day instead of 24 to get everything done. Well, if you wake up early, you still got so much of the day left! I know, this sounds like the lamest discovery ever, but trust me, I’m literally discovering just now how nice it is to wake up at 7 o’ clock and start doing your shit. So you’re probably wondering what I did today right? Well, I actually had a really awesome event today, because I was invited to go to the One Piece Vintage sale in The Hague. I bought some awesome vintage pieces. I also did some shopping at Flying Tiger and chilled with my bestie. Now I’m chilling on my couch and mentally preparing myself to do a crapload of homework. But before this will turn into a way too ramble-y blogpost, let me tell you what it’s actually going to be about. I’m going to review the shower gel, body butter and body scrub from The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil line. So if you’re interested in reading someting about way too good smelling body products, keep reading.

Although this line contains way more products, I only got 3 of them. I bought this line especially for the scent. I love the smell of my Moroccanoil hair products, so I kinda hoped it was similar because these products also contained argan oil.
First, I’m going to talk about the Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel. I never notice huge differences when it comes to shower gel, so I mainly buy them for the smell. And, I’m telling you guys, this stuff smells amazing. Most The Body Shop products smell kinda foody, which I like, but this one smells just like perfume. That’s why it’s smells way more luxurious, if you know what I mean. It also kinda smells similar to my Moroccanoil hair products, so I feel like one big cloud of argan oil goodness when I’m using all of these products. Haha.
All the ingredients. As you can see, this shower gel does contain SLES, which is really drying for the skin. It does contain Castor Oil and Argan Oil, which is good for the skin, but not that much. It also contains a lot of perfume, which can be a downside if you have sensitive skin. The smell is amazing, but the product itself isn’t anything special. I mainly bought this shower gel for the scent layering effect, not for the fact that it leaves my skin feeling soft or anything.
This is how the shower gel looks like on my hand. It has a regular, gelly consistency, nothing special. It’s also pretty liquidy as you can see.
The shower gel doesn’t really latter (this is the gel + some water on my hand), which is a good thing. The more a shower gel latters, the more it will dry your skin out. So it’s a good thing it doesn’t have a lot of bubbles and stuff. What can I say: it is a ‘mweh’ shower gel, nothing special, but with an amazing scent.
Next up is this Wild Argan Oil Rough Scrub. Doesn’t it look pretty? I was on the look out for a new body scrub for ages, so I decided that I also wanted to try out the scrub from the Wild Argan Oil line. The scrub has, again, the same delicious scent as the shower gel. Packaging wise, the scrub isn’t that amazing though. I have a love-hate relationship with tubs like this: they look awesome and I love the feeling of my hand digging in the product (okay I sound like a fucking weirdo), but they aren’t that hygienic, because water can get into the tub and make the product go bad.
Now onto the ingredients. The scrub particals are made from Walnut and Argan, which is pretty awesome if you ask me. It also contains argan oil and castor oil, but again, not that much. It also contains a lot of perfume, which can be a downside if you are allergic to it.
This is the scrub on my hands. The consistency is pretty similar to the shower gel, it’s only a bit thicker and more gelly. A lot of scrubs are oil based, but this one definitely isn’t. Pretty strange if you ask me, because the line has the word ‘oil’ in it. Anyways, this is a very mild scrub, totally not embrassive. You can definitely use it everyday if you want to. I still won’t recommend it to people with sensitive skin, because of the perfume. It leaves my skin feeling smoother, but don’t expect anything major.
This is how it looks on my hand when I rub it in with water. As you can see, the product is really liquidy and thin. I would recommend this product if you’re searching for a regular scrub that you can use everyday, maybe even as a replacement for your showergel. But this product is also mainly amazing because of the smell.
The last product that I’m going to review is the Wild Argan Oil Body Butter. I can tell you already, I’m most excited about this product. I’ve always liked The Body Shop body butters, because they’re so thick and last you for a really long time. Again, this one smells just as good as all the other products. This is definitely my favourite smell from The Body Shop! I also always love body butters in tubs, because you can get all of the product outta there really easily.
The body butter contains a lot of Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter, Babassu Seed Oil, Beeswax and Argan Oil. Now we’re talking business! These ingredients are all amazing for moisturizing your skin. Great job TBS! It also doesn’t contain that much perfume, which makes it perfectly usable for people with sensitive skin.
Just look at that. Doesn’t that absolutely look amazing? I love the thickness of this body butter, because it moisturizes my skin as fuck, haha. I don’t really have dry skin (only my upper arms sometimes), but when I use this my skin is as smooth as a baby’s butt. Not kidding you.
The only downside of this product is that you really need to work it in. As you can see, it’s so thick, that it will leave your skin feeling a bit greasy and leave a white cast if you don’t rub it in properly. I recommend using this body butter before you go to bed, because that way it will have sunken in your skin when you wake up. But yes, I definitely recommend this product. If you only want to get one thing from this line, definitely go with the body butter!
That’s it for today’s review! I know that I’ve been reviewing a lot lately and I still have a lot of reviews coming up! I hope you enjoy reading them. If you don’t, don’t worry, I have a fashion video coming up tomorrow! So be on the lookout for that as well. Anyways, now I really have to get going and start doing my homework, ’cause tonight I have a party (again, haha). Wish me luck!
