REVIEW: THE ORIGINAL BEAUTYBLENDER

REVIEW THE ORIGINAL BEAUTY BLENDER + SOLID CLEANSERHi!

A while back I got the Original Beautyblender send over for a review. I’ve never tried it before, so I was very curious to see how I would like it. I love applying my foundation and concealer with a sponge in general and I’ve already tried a lot of different make-up sponges. I’ve used the Beautyblender now for a couple of weeks and I have to say: I’m lovin’ it! It’s definitely worth the hype. Wanna know why? Well, keep reading then, girl!

PACKAGING

I recieved the Original Beautyblender + the Solid Blendercleanser in this plastic box. I think both of the items are very small and travel friendly, which is definitely a big plus for me. I will be travelling a lot this Summer, so small packaging is always a good thing. I also think the pink make-up sponge looks so girly and cute, love it!

TEXTURE

Let’s talk make-up sponge texture now. The big deal with the Beautyblender is (and all make-up sponges in general) is that you need to wet them first before applying your make-up. This way, you wil get a more even and flawless application. Also, it reduces the amount of foundation/concealer the spong wil absorb. In the first picture you can see the Beautyblender before, in the second picture after I’ve wet it. As you can see, it grows quite a bit!

SOLID BLENDERCLEANSER

Before I’m going to show the results that I got with the Beautyblender, I wanted to talk a bit about how to cleanse it. Of course, you can use regular soap to cleanse your Beautyblender with. Because it’s a sponge (not a brush) and you need to wash it more often than brushes, so it’s nice that it comes with a Solid Blendercleanser. So what do I think about it? Well, sponges are a pain in the ass to clean, let me tell you that. I do think the Solid Blendercleanser does its job nicely, but I just couldn’t get all of the stains out. Also, the Beautyblender loses a lot of colour whenever you’re washing it. I would prefer to have a colourless Beautyblender, because I don’t like the fact that I’m maybe applying a lil’ bit of dye on my face if I haven’t cleaned it properly.

APPLICATION

NO MAKE-UP

So, now onto the long awaited part: results. Of course, to see the biggest impact, you need to see my skin without any make-up on. I really dislike to post pictures of myself without any make-up on, but because I want to give you the best review possible, I did it anyhow. So yeah, I have anything but flawless skin and I suffer from a lot of pigmentation and acne.

FOUNDATION

First up is foundation. I used the big, round side of the Beautyblender to apply it. The trick to using the Beautyblender is that you really need to bounce it on your face while applying foundation. As you can see, it gave me a nice, light-medium coverage with a natural-dewy finish. I like!

UNDEREYE CONCEALER

Now it’s time for concealing the undereyes. I don’t really struggle with bags, but I do like to lighten up this area quite a bit. I used the MAC Pro Longwear concealer and I do have to say, it doesn’t work wonders with the Beautyblender. It’s totally due to the concealer tho, because it’s sets really quickly. I do think the Beautyblender did a nice job of blending it out anyways (I used the pointy tip this time).

CONCEALER

Last step is regular concealer – the most important step for me! Now I finally have that perfect skin again, haha. As you can see, the Beautyblender blends my concealer seemlessly (I used the big, round side again with a bouncing motion). This is why I love make-up sponges you guys! A make-up brush would never give you this finish. I love it!

FINISHED RESULT

And this is the finished result! Here I added a bit more make-up (but not that much actually, can you tell the difference?). I really love the way my skin looks here. So yeah, my overall opinion of the Beautyblender is very positive. I can’t remember the last time I’ve used make-up brushes to apply my foundation: make-up sponges do the job way better in my opinion! The Beautyblender is definitely a great sponge to try out. Although I prefer the shape of the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, I do think the Beautyblender will last you longer. The Real Techniques sponge is pretty soft, which makes it easier to fall apart. The Beautyblender is very bouncy, so it will last you longer in the long term. I do recommend both of them, but at the moment I’m using the Beautyblender on a daily basis.

Anyways, it’s time to go now. I’m actually gonna sleep a bit more now, because I’m really tired! Talk to you later guys!

HOW DO YOU APPLY YOUR FOUNDATION?

This beauty blender seems brilliant which runs true to all of the other positive reviews I’ve read of it lately! Good luck with your acne by the way! 🙂

Wow, jij gebruikt make-up ook echt super goed. En dan bedoel ik, je verbergt al die roodheden (?) 10x zo goed als mij, haha! En ook al heb je misschien niet de meest flawless skin – ik ook niet – maar ik vind je echt prachtig zonder make-up! ♥
