Finally, I’m going to review them. I’m talking about my two ‘missing’ Urban Decay Naked palettes, the Urban Decay Naked 2 and Naked Basics. I got the Urban Decay Naked 2 and Naked Basics 2 palettes a while back from my mom, which was so sweet of her. I’ve had them for a long time now, so I made a couple of different looks to see how I liked the quality of the shadows. So now it’s time to share my thoughts with you! Hope you enjoy!
URBAN DECAY NAKED 2 PALETTE
PACKAGING & COLOURS
I’m going to start off with the UD Naked 2 palette. Just like the other Naked palettes, this baby has gorgeous packaging. Although it’s kind of a big palette, because of the sturdy packaging and big mirror, it’s still pretty handy to carry around with you for travelling. It comes with a very handy double-sided brush and it’s actually a nice brush to use in my opinion. Only downside is that it’s exactly the same brush (just in a different colour) as the brush that comes with the Naked 3 palette, so now I have two of the same exact brushes. But packaging wise, this palette definitely nails it!
Colour wise, the Naked 2 palette is the coolest guy (do you get it? Ha-ha) of them all. It does have a couple slightly warmer shades, but the overall feel of this palette is definitely cool-toned. The palette also contains a nice mix between matte and shimmery shades.
SWATCHES
Now it’s swatch time! As you can see, the colours of this palette are cooler than the Original 1 and the 3 palette. Mt favourite shades are Busted (second from the right) and Tease (fifth from the left), especially because they make a killer eyeshadow combo as well! Oh and look at that colour Blackout (on the top right), how freaking black right?! The texture of these eyeshadows is very smooth and silky and with just one swipe you get amazing colour pay off. Again, I’m very impressed when it comes to this Naked palette!
I also made this eyeshadow look using only the Naked 2 palette to see how the quality is. I ended up making this very wearable and cool-toned eyeshadow look, that will look good on literally everyone. As you can see, the eyeshadows are kind of shimmery/sheeny, but it’s nothing major. I think the colours look very vibrant on my lids and they stay on all day as well (using the Urban Decay Primer Potion)! So yeah, this Naked palette didn’t disappoint me and it’s just as great as the other Naked palettes. If you’re a cool-toned girl and you like a lil’ bit of shimmery stuff, definitely go for this baby!
URBAN DECAY NAKED BASICS 2 PALETTE
PACKAGING & COLOURS
Now it’s time for the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2. I’m gonna spill the beans, but think that this palette is genius. The packaging of this palette makes it so freaking easy to take with you while travelling and because I’m usually doing my make-up on the go, this palette is perfect. Although it’s a very small palette, it has a relatively big mirror inside as well. It has a rubberized finish to it, which feels very good in your hands.
This Naked Basics 2 palette is marketed as the more cooler sister of the Original Basics 1 palette. Well, I have to say that I disagree. Although this palette contains a couple of cooler toned eyeshadows, it also has some warmer shades in it and I think the Original Basics 1 palette is a bit cooler. So weird right?
SWATCHES
It’s swatch time! As you can see, despite the fact we’re talking about matte, nude shades, which is definitely the hardest colour to get right, these eyeshadows have an amazing colour pay off. They are also very smooth and soft and don’t have a hint of chalkyness to them, whatsoever. My favourite shade is Stark (the second one from the right), because this makes a very nice transition colour or even a slightly darker lid colour.
The biggest test to see if the quality of an eyeshadow is nice, is to just make a look with it. So the look that you’re seeing right now is made using only the Naked Basics 2 palette. I don’t know about you guys, but I think it looks very pretty! You can definitely see that despite the fact they are all nude shades, the colour pay off is really good. I think this palette is awesome and it contains a lot of nice, wearable shades that you can rock on a everyday basis. The only thing that I miss is a slightly lighter lid shade, like the Orginal Basics 1 has. But hey, luckily I have them both, so I can mix and match! I do think the Basics 2 contains colours that are a bit more unique. So if you want a palette that’s maybe not as versatile as the Original Basics 1, but is a bit more special, go for this one! Or just buy them both, haha.
I’m so happy that I now have all the Urban Decay Naked palettes. Yup, literally, all of them! I think they are one of the best eyeshadow palettes out there and I use all of them religiously every day. They never disappoint! My favourite palettes are the Basics palettes tho, just because they are so handy and travel-friendly! So that’s it for today! I hope you enjoyed this blogpost. I’m glad that I was finally able to show you my newest Naked palettes, because I wanted to show you them for a very long time. Sorry that this post is sliiighlty later than it’s usually is. I had a very big paper to write, so I needed to spend all my time on that shit (read: I did all my other homework now and now I need to write a fucking essay of 1500 words in one day, great). Wish me luck, as always!
