When it comes to fashion, Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Why? Well, you don't have to worry about freezing your butt off, but you can still spice up your outfits by playing with different layers. You can honestly wear freaking everything during this season ánd have the option to show off your bare legs as well. However, because Spring time fashion is so versatile, it's easy to end up with just a bit too much money spend on shopping than you actually could afford. That's why I decided to make a Spring Fashion Guide series, were I'm showing you my 5 favorite trends and 5 favorite basics for this season + a shopping checklist you can take with you whenever you're planning on going for a shopping spree. Just open this blogpost on your phone and check off every item you're still missing in your Spring closet (your wallet will thank me later)!

THE TRENDS
-
Floral Print. One of the hottest trends at the moment is floral. It may seem like an open door - I mean, have you ever seen a Spring season without any floral prints?! - however, this year the floral print has been reinvented completely. Say bye to the small, dainty flowers and hello to the big, artsy floral prints we've seen on the runway with Gucci. Although I'm not really into floral or colorful prints in general, I do really like this trend. Paired in the right way, it can look amazing on anybody. I went for a floral midi dress from Topshop in a light pink color and a black jumpsuit from River Island that I received here.
-
Cropped Denim Jacket. Although one can say that a denim jacket is actually a quite basic essential for your wardrobe all year round, this Spring there's been a massively new take on the trusty denim jacket. Extremely destroyed and cropped in the back (!) denim jackets are the thing right now. I went for this already destroyed denim jacket from Zara, but decided to crop it in the back as well. You can find it here.
-
Statement Belt. Belts are huge this Spring season. Pair them with some mom jeans, leather jacket and a white tee and you have yourself a simple, but really stylish uniform for this Spring. I recommend investing in the Gucci belt (I will talk about this belt in a separate blogpost very soon!), but any other statement belt can do the trick as well. You can find the Gucci belt here.
-
Colorful Leather Jacket. I'm addicted to wearing (faux) leather jackets. I find myself adding a leather jacket to freaking every outfit. There's just something about them that makes everything look so good. To protect myself from outfit repeating, I recommend investing in a colorful leather jacket. Although the color might be quite trendy, you can definitely wear it for multiple seasons, because the silhouette is so timeless. I got this leather jacket from Zara previous year and it's still going strong this Spring!
-
Red Shoes. Red, especially paired with light pink, is one of the most popular colors this season. The thing about red is that, even if you're not into colors like me, it still looks quite basic and simple. Red is a color that even people that don't like color should have in their wardrobe. Add a pair of red shoes to any outfit and you transformed your look to something that makes a big statement. These red pumps are from Steve Madden and I received them from Sacha here.

THE BASICS
-
Striped T-Shirt. Stripes scream Spring time. In my opinion, everybody should own at least one striped tee in their wardrobe, to channel their inner Parisian. Try to go for a striped t-shirt with a slightly oversized or boxy fit, so you can tuck it into your pants perfectly. I got mine through Asos and you can find it here.
-
White Button Down Shirt. Another essential for your Spring wardrobe, is a crispy white button down shirt. There's just something immensly chic and sexy about a girl wearing a relaxed white shirt, some dainty jewelry and pair of jeans. Instead of goin for your average white shirt, try to experiment with different fits, sleeves or cut-outs. I received this white shirt from River Island with little shoulder cut-outs and flared sleeves and I love it! You can find this shirt here.
-
Nude Bootie. Nude shoes are perfect if you don't have naturally killer legs like me. Nude shoes create the illusion of longer, skinnier legs, because they blend in with your skintone. Go for a pair of shoes that matches your skin coloring and a heel for the best elongating effect. I went for this nude bootie from H&M that's actually really affordable + comfy too!
-
Mom Jeans. Mom jeans are my favorite type of jeans. Skinny jeans are just too overdone in my opinion and high waisted mom jeans are just completely the sh*t at the moment. I went for this light wash denim jeans from Pull & Bear that I cropped myself as well. You can find it here.
-
Trench Coat. A classic, basic musthave in my opinion. A trench coat is an item that every girl looks amazing in. It's the perfect coat to pair with skirts or dresses. I went for this classic camel coat from Zara I got previous year in Spring.
