During my Spring Break I had the pleasure of having a staycation at the Melrose Hotel Washington DC. A staycation is perfect for anyone that's craving a bit of a pamper and adventure, without actually the stress travelling could give you. As a law student, I definitely consider myself having a stressful life, so I was super excited for this little break. My stay at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel also aligned with Women's History Month, something the Melrose is very passionate about. MY STAYCATION EXPERIENCE
So what's it like, having a little break from your everyday routine in your own city? Even though I have been living in Washington DC for more than half a year now, I still feel like a newbie in this city. There's still so much I haven't discovered in DC! My stay at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel gave me the perfect excuse to do some hotspot visiting and sightseeing. DC has way more to offer than just the National Mall with all the musea and the Capitol - although I strongly believe you should visit those places too if you have the chance. My favorite areas in DC are Georgetown for shopping, Dupont Circle for food and going out, and City Center for any luxury craving you might have. If you want to visit all these locations, staying at the Melrose Georgetwon Hotel is a great idea. It's located in between Foggy Bottom and Georgetown - very close to the GW university as well - which means it will only take you around 10-15 minutes with an Uber to visit all these areas.
When it comes to my stay itself, I definitely would highly recommend spending the night in the Melrose Georgetown Hotel. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like there's something so relaxing about sleeping in a hotel bed. I always have the best rest whenever I wake up in a hotel bed! Another added bonus is that it's totally justifiable to have breakfast in bed. The breakfast they served was really good, so that's definitely a bonus. I also had the opportunity of dining at their restaurant called the Jardenea. Unfortunately there weren't a lot of vegeterian options on the menu, however, the chef and the staff was very accomodating and ending up preparing a separate dish, just for me. That's what I call great service!
Address: 2430 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20037
"Experience a luxury boutique hotel in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood steps away from historic Georgetown. Our iconic Washington, DC hotel features luxurious rooms and suites with beautiful décor, unique designs and original artwork."
WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
It's no secret that I am a big advocate of women's rights and feminism. That is why I was especially pleased when I heard that the Melrose Georgetown Hotel donates 8% of their Women in Travel Package to the Time’s Up legal defense fund. If you don't know what the Time's Up legal defense fund is: Time's Up addresses the systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential. They partner with leading advocates for equality and safety to improve laws, employment agreements, and corporate policies, to enable more women and men to access our legal system to hold wrongdoers accountable.
MY STAYCATION VIDEO
If you want to see more of my staycation weekend at the Melrose Hotel, check out my DC Diaries video! I'm giving you a hotel room tour, show you some of my favorite hotspots and sights to see in the Capitol of the US, and taking you to a G-Eazy concert! Furthermore, I also share why I love Washington DC and don't want to go back to the Netherlands. Definitely watch the video if you're interested in any of those things!
I definitely had a great time at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington DC. A staycation with my bestie was just what I needed in order to re-charge and get ready for going back to Law School again. I'm ready to tackle those deadlines and exams again! With that being said, I hope you enjoyed reading about my little adventure in Washington DC. Let's hope I can post some new travel related content soon! <3
