I know many of you have been waiting for this moment: My home tour of my new studio apartment in Washington DC. I love home decor and interior design, so it was definitely a pleasure to be able to style a new place. It was also so much fun to be able to shop at American based shops instead of European ones: there's so much more marble and rose gold items here! If you're interested in seeing a peek of my apartment here in the US, then definitely keep reading!
MAKING A HOUSE A HOME
Moving to a different continent definitely made me feel home sick quite a bit. It was hard moving away from home, especially because I do see myself as a home person. I like travelling and discovering new places, but I would always choose my home above anything. That's why I was quite nervous about my new place. I really wanted to make this house my home, and I do feel like I succeeded at that. Adding some cosy details as this pink salt lamp from Marshalls, fairy lights, and rose gold accessories from Urban Outfitters made me feel like I was still in my old apartment - but this time thousand kilometers away from Groningen. It's these little things that can make such a big impact on your overall mood and mind state. It might not work for everyone, but for me it definitely did. And an added bonus is that I have loads of new photo props for my flatlays! <3
DUSTY PINK DETAILS
It's no secret that I love a white, marble, rose gold and minimal interior home decor style. However, for my new studio apartment I wanted to spice things up by adding something new. I decided to add some dusty pink colored details, because I feel like it goes very well with the rose gold tones throughout my apartment. Here I added the dusty pink color to my room with these pretty prints from Desenio. They actually sell very nice artwork and matching frames, which is perfect if you want to add some character to your home!
I love to use my clothing rack as an interior decor piece. Now that Fall is here, I added my favorite items to my rack, such as a plaid blazer, my Gucci bag and a cosy sweater. The clothing rack is from Ikea and it was such a bargain! Definitely recommend it (they also have it in black). You can get it here at Ikea for only $9.99!
I am obsessed with the building of my apartment complex - it is so stunning! Definitely gives me Parisian vibes, I just love this architecture. And cool fact: this used to function as a temporary White House for President Coolidge. Can't believe I actually lived there as well...
The apartment complex where I have been living is called Ampeer Residences. They opened up their apartment complex very recently. I was actually the first person living at my studio apartment! It is a fully furnished apartment, so if you're staying for a shorter amount of time at a location, Ampeer Residences is definitely a good option to consider. It's located in Dupont Circle, which is a great area in Washington DC. If you mention the name Lilia you will actually get a $50 beverage credit for free if you sign a lease at Ampeer Residences! You can find more information about my Ampeer Residences furnished apartment here.
