January has been a hell of a month for me. I was so busy with studying and stressing for my exams, I barely had the time to worry about other stuff. Such as my health, fitness and food pattern. And oh that thing called social life too. Anyways, now that my exams are finally over, I can start living a normal life again – kind of at least. Although this wasn’t a real new year’s resolution for me or something, I want to start getting fit again. Now it’s the perfect time to start if you want that perfect Summer body (I personally feel like ‘the perfect Summer body’ is more a myth than a true story lol) and this time I want to really achieve it. I don’t believe in diets, but I do believe in healthier choices. I’m not that type of person that needs something sweet from time to time. I’m not going to restrict myself, but instead, I’ll choose the healthier option. This time I have a (semi) healthy Chocolate Oat Drink for you, that’s the perfect alternative if you’re craving a sweet drink.
At the moment I’m all about that stu-dying life (or rather no-life, ’cause I literally don’t have any life except the one that’s with my nose in too thick law books). I have 2 essay deadlines and 3 exams to study for. And this hell continues up until the 29th of January. For me, January is always a fucked up month, but with these exams and deadlines it’s even worse. Anyways, whenever I’m studying I always like to have some snacks to eat. It’s easy to just grab some chips or ice cream (c’mon, I know we’ve all been guilty for doing that lol), but now I’m really trying to get back on the healthy track. So for me, this is the perfect healthy study snack!
Everytime I’m visiting Amsterdam I like to discover a new cute hotspot to drink a latte or eat some good food. A while back I had a day planned with Josie in Amsterdam and we decided to go to this café/restaurant called Vinnies. Vinnies claims to be your living room-away-from-home. A place to enjoy good food and good company. Sounds pretty awesome, doesn’t it?
Lately I haven’t been so good to my body. These last weeks I didn’t have any time to go to my dance classes and I also have been eating very poorly. Too much chocolate, tiramisu and ice cream isn’t good for you, I know that now. And having Christmas Dinners with my committee don’t help as well… Anyways, with the New Year’s coming and all, I really wanted to get back on the healthy track. That’s why I was searching for some healthy snacks. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t like to grab a quick snack during the day? It’s very easy to grab something unhealthy, but now I have this great almond butter rice cakes recipe that’s super easy to make and will keep you full for a good while. And it’s super yummy too!
Because I’ve been so busy lately, I didn’t have the time to go out for lunch and discover new hotspots. Luckily that has changed now! A while ago I visited this restaurant called Pernikkel, located in the area Westerhaven in Groningen. It has a huge downstairs and upstairs space, filled with artsy stuff and comfy couches. Definitely feeling that vintage/hipster-ish vibe! They change their menu every week and you can eat there something for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Perfect!
